One of the oldest performing arts presenters in the country, UMS is committed to connecting audiences with performing artists from around the world in uncommon and engaging experiences.UMS is dedicated to serving diverse audiences in three distinct but interrelated areas:
presentation, education and creation. While affiliated with the University of Michigan, UMS is an independent non-profit organization governed by a 30-member Board of Directors, and supports itself through ticket sales, grants, contributions and endowment income.
Ticket revenues cover only 47% of the costs of presenting world-class arts performances and associated educational offerings. UMS has a diverse, multicultural program that is supported by individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. This financial support is critical to UMS’s ability to remain distinctive.
