Yo-Yo Ma strives to find connections that stimulate the imagination, immersing himself in subjects as diverse as traditional Chinese music and the music of the Kalahari bush people in Africa. He returns to UMS for his first performance since 2000, alongside his longtime collaborator Kathryn Stott. The program includes a transcription of Cesár Franck's Sonata for Violin, which was written as a wedding present to the great Belgian violinist Eugene Ysa˙e, and Astor Piazzolla's Le Grand Tango, which was composed for Mstislav Rostropovich.
This performance is currently sold out. A wait list will start 90 minutes before the performance in person at Hill Auditorium for any returned tickets.
